Linguica is a Portuguese sausage, and there are a number of Portuguese decendents/etc in Gloucester. The same way you find italian cuisine the north end you find a lot of Portuguese food on Gloucester (and fir that matter, a lot of italians too). The Portuguese have historically had a rich fishing tradition, and Gloucester is Americas oldest seaport, so it makes a lot of sense. One thing to note is how much of the Portuguese population derives from he Azores, a chain of islands far off the coast of Portugal. Like how there is specific sicilian influence vs italian overall, the Azorean influence is a bit different than portigal in general
